IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2026

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released a short notice for CRP CSA-XVI, the 16th edition of the Common Recruitment Process for the recruitment of Customer Service Associates (CSA) in participating public sector banks. The notice was published on 27 July 2026 and announces the complete recruitment schedule for the vacancies of the financial year 2027-28. Online registration will remain open from 1 August 2026 to 21 August 2026.

IBPS follows the practice of issuing a short notice in the employment newspaper before the detailed notification. The purpose is to give aspirants an early view of the registration window and the examination months so that preparation can begin without waiting for the full advertisement. The detailed notification, which carries the state-wise and bank-wise vacancies, the eligibility criteria and the application fee, is expected before the registration window opens on 1 August 2026.

Selection Process of IBPS Clerk Recruitment

The selection is a two-stage online process with no interview. Candidates must first clear the Preliminary Examination, which is only a screening stage, and then appear for the Main Examination. Only the marks obtained in the Main Examination are used to prepare the final merit list and the provisional allotment of banks. Both stages carry a negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.

As per the tentative calendar published by IBPS on 16 January 2026, the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 10 and 11 October 2026 and the Main Examination for 27 December 2026. These dates remain tentative until the call letters are issued, and candidates can track the release of the IBPS Clerk Admit Card for the confirmed schedule.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is an objective online test of 100 marks completed in 1 hour, with separate timing for each of the three sections. Candidates have to clear the cut-off fixed by IBPS in every section, and those who qualify are shortlisted for the Main Examination in a ratio decided by IBPS.

Provisional Allotment

Candidates who appear in the Main Examination are ranked based on their scores, and the participating banks are allotted through a single centralised process scheduled for March 2027. The allotment depends on the candidate’s merit position, the state opted for, the category, and the preference of banks submitted during the application. Candidates who want to follow the outcome of the previous cycle can refer to our IBPS Clerk Result page.

Select the new registration option and enter your name, mobile number and email address.
Note the provisional registration number and password sent to you, as they are needed for every later login.
Fill in your personal, educational and communication details, and select the state and the preference of banks.
Upload the photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the prescribed format.
Pay the application fee online and verify that the payment status shows as successful.
Review the complete preview of the form, submit it, and save a printout of the confirmation for future use.

IBPS also opens a separate edit window after registration closes, so that candidates can correct the details entered in the form. The schedule of this window will be announced on the official website of IBPS after 21 August 2026.
