Assam Government Holiday List 2026
The Governor of Assam has officially released the list of holidays for the year 2026 through a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD). This notification confirms the days on which Offices under the Government of Assam, as well as all Revenue and Magisterial Courts in Assam, will remain closed. The list includes Gazetted Holidays, Restricted Holidays, and specific holidays for financial institutions.
According to the notification dated 17 November 2025, there are a total of 35 Gazetted Holidays designated for the year 2026. In addition to these, the state government has declared 35 Restricted Holidays, from which employees may choose to avail themselves of any two. The notification also details Half Holidays and dates for Special Casual Leave for employees.
Assam Holiday List Details

Total Gazetted Holidays: 35 Days
Restricted Holidays: 35 Days (Employees may avail 2 days)
Half Holidays: There is 1 Half Holiday declared for 2026. The offices will remain closed at 1:00 PM on 25 October 2026 on account of Lakshmi Puja.
Weekend Holidays: In addition to the notified holidays, all 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the months will be observed as holidays. All other Saturdays will be full working days.
Matri Pitri Vandana Special Casual Leave
The State Government employees are entitled to avail of Special Casual Leave on account of Matri Pitri Vandana. For the year 2026, employees can utilize this leave on any one of the following sets of dates:
9 July and 10 July 2026: These dates can be clubbed with 11 July (2nd Saturday) and 12 July (Sunday).
23 July and 24 July 2026: These dates can be clubbed with 25 July (4th Saturday) and 26 July (Sunday).
