Assam NMMS Scholarship 2026
The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has started the application process for the Assam NMMS Scholarship 2026. The scheme is aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker families and encouraging them to continue their studies after Class VIII.

Educational Qualification

School Eligibility
Students studying in Government and Provincialised schools under the Department of School Education, Government of Assam are eligible for consideration under the scholarship scheme.
Students from private schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) may appear for the examination, but they will not be considered for the scholarship.
Class VII Marks
The student should have secured at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in Class VII.
For SC and ST students, the minimum marks requirement is relaxed by 5%.
Parental Income
The annual income of the student’s parents from all sources should not exceed ₹3.50 lakh.

For schools in the Sixth Schedule Areas and Bodoland Territorial Region, the fee exemption covers the top 5 eligible students from each school whose parental annual income is within the prescribed limit.
The Head of the Institution must submit the eligible students’ list to the concerned Inspector of Schools on or before 27 October 2026.
Note: Students who have already paid the examination fee will not receive a refund even if they are later selected for fee exemption.

The Assam NMMS examination consists of two tests: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
