Marking Scheme: +4 marks for every correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.

How is the GU B.Ed Merit List Prepared?
The GUBEDCET 2026 Rank List is prepared solely on the basis of the marks secured in the entrance examination. Marks obtained in the qualifying degree are not considered while preparing the merit list.
After evaluating the answer sheets, Gauhati University prepares the final rank list by applying the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of Assam. Only candidates who secure the prescribed qualifying marks are included in the merit list.
If two or more candidates obtain the same score, the university resolves the tie by comparing the ratio of correct answers to wrong answers. If the tie still remains, the candidate with fewer unanswered questions receives a higher rank. If the tie continues even after that, the older candidate is placed higher in the merit list.
Note: Inclusion in the merit list does not automatically guarantee admission. Candidates must also satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by NCTE and Gauhati University during document verification.

What Happens After the Merit List?
After the publication of the rank list, the admission process is carried out by the individual affiliated colleges, not by Gauhati University directly.
Candidates whose names appear in the merit list must report to the college where they wish to seek admission within the prescribed schedule. The college will verify all original documents before confirming admission.
Admission is granted strictly on the basis of merit, seat availability, reservation rules, and fulfillment of eligibility conditions.
Eligibility for Admission
Candidates seeking admission into the B.Ed. programme must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized university.
General category candidates should have secured at least 50% marks, while SC, ST, OBC, and PwD candidates are eligible with 45% marks, as per the applicable admission rules.
Candidates appearing in the final year examination were also allowed to apply. However, they must produce the final mark sheet and certificate during admission.
