UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the UPSC Civil Services (CSE) Prelims Result 2026 on 15 June 2026. The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 was conducted on 24 May 2026, and 13,343 candidates have successfully qualified for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. The result has been published on the official UPSC website in PDF format, containing the roll numbers of all shortlisted candidates.
For the Civil Services Examination 2026, UPSC has notified 1,016 vacancies across various Group A and Group B services. Compared to the previous recruitment cycle, where 14,161 candidates were shortlisted for 1,087 vacancies, the number of candidates qualifying for the Mains examination is slightly lower this year. Candidates who have qualified must now complete the Detailed Application Form (DAF) and other required formalities within the stipulated time to become eligible for the Mains examination.
Important: The candidature of all shortlisted candidates is purely provisional and remains subject to verification of eligibility and other conditions prescribed by the commission. About the Civil Services Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE) every year to recruit candidates for some of India’s most prestigious government services. The selection process consists of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and the Personality Test (Interview).
Through the Civil Services Examination, UPSC selects candidates for premier services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and several other Group A and Group B Central Services. The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening test, and only candidates who qualify at this stage are eligible to appear for the Civil Services (Main) Examination. The final selection is based on candidates’ performance in the Mains Examination and the Personality Test, subject to meeting all eligibility requirements.
Post-Result Mandatory Actions for Qualified Candidates
All shortlisted candidates must complete the following steps through the UPSC Online portal between 19 June 2026 and 28 June 2026. Failure to submit the application form within this window will disqualify candidates from further stages of the examination. The e-Admit Card for the Mains will not be generated without this submission.
Fee Payment: Candidates (other than Female, PwBD, SC, and ST candidates who are fee-exempted) must pay ₹200 as the Mains application fee.
Scribe and Assistive Device Details: Candidates who need a scribe, assistive device, or question paper in large print for the Mains must submit or update those details during this window.
Cadre Preference: Candidates must fill in their cadre preference for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026 during this window.
Candidates who already uploaded required documents earlier and have nothing to update must still log in and submit the form to confirm their details. Without this final submission, the e-Admit Card will not be issued.
